Wisconsin Teacher Standard #9:
"The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his/her choices and actions on others (students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community) and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally."
Rationale:
This is a field of constant reflection and evaluation of one’s own instruction and growth. Wisconsin Teacher Standard #9relates to how I am able to grab hold of the learning opportunities for myself to better influence my students and those around me. My pieces of evidence for this standard consist of my ED 220 External Interview Assessment and my ED 399 goals. The External Interview Assessment, ED 220, was done during my sophomore year as a marker of my professional growth. I was asked to provide a narrative and evidence stating how I am meeting the Wisconsin Teacher Standards. These pieces of evidence were from inside, as well as, outside of my educational experience. During my interview I kept a professional demeanor and was well prepared as I supplied my interviewer with many pieces of information. This shows that I am a reflective practitioner who understands my growth and development in the field of education. The process and aspects of this interview shows that I have met Wisconsin Teacher Standard #9 by taking hold of every learning opportunity to better prepare myself for the wonderful career ahead of me.
During my junior year, we were to come up with our ED 399 goals. These were statements of how we would like to expand our own learning and how we will work toward achieving our goals. I not only stated my goals but also included reasoning for its importance. This relates to the Wisconsin Teacher Standard #9 in that I am constantly evaluating myself and seeking out new ways that will help my students’ development.
COMMUNICATION:
During this interview I communicated verbally and in writing about my experiences and how I have met the standards. There was engagement as I kept eye contact and presented my materials with enthusiasm. I displayed consistant professional developmental skills during the ED 220 interview process.

Evidence #2:
Communication
I chose the Alverno Ability of Communication for this piece of evidence as well. In completing these goals I sought out information and advice from my cooperating teachers and instructors. This is a continual learning process in which I will need to communicate with many different individuals as I work toward creating the best instruction for my students.
